Liz Mackintosh owns and runs the African Schoolroom. She has over 20 years experience in the education sector in South Africa – in community and educational development and environmental education in rural communities and schools, as well as in private schools. For ten years she was the Director of the Uplands Outreach Programme (which is attached to independent schools Uplands Preparatory School and Uplands College and offers educational upliftment to teachers and learners from disadvantaged schools). She has an excellent relationship with the Mpumalanga Department of Education and with the schools and communities in the area.

In addition to the placement of students, student teachers and in-service teachers in rural and township schools for assistant teacherships and project managing school tours, Liz is a Journey Practitioner. She offers emotional counselling to rural school learners to help them cope with adverse circumstances which can create hopelessness and despair and prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Liz has two grown-up children, has written a book and is a member of the Rotary Club of White River.
